Walk In Hope — Privacy Policy Last updated: May 30, 2026 Effective date: May 30, 2026 This Privacy Policy describes how the Walk In Hope mobile application (“Walk In Hope,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use it. Walk In Hope is a free ministry application of Thirsting For Hope, founded by Tami Rose. We have written this policy in plain language because we believe transparency is part of trust, and trust is part of ministry. If anything below is unclear, please write to us at the contact address at the bottom of this page.

Our Privacy Commitment: Walk In Hope is designed to respect your privacy completely. The app does not require an account, does not transmit your personal information to any server we control, and does not share information with advertisers or third-party data brokers. Everything you do inside the app — your steps, your devotional progress, your goal settings, and any group memberships — is stored locally on your own device. When you uninstall the app, that information is removed from your device and we have no copy of it. We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, crash-reporting services that include personal data, or social-media tracking pixels. There is no hidden background data collection.
Information We Process Locally: To deliver the features Walk In Hope promises, the app processes a small amount of information on your device only. We list every category here so you know exactly what is happening. The first category is step count and walking activity. With your permission, the app reads the step count produced by your phone’s built-in pedometer. We use this number only to display your daily progress, calculate your weekly chart, and show your contribution to any walking groups you join. The step data never leaves your device. The second category is devotional progress. The app records which day of the 60-day journey you are on, which scriptures you have opened, and any preferences you set. This is stored in the app’s local storage on your phone. The third category is profile information you choose to enter. If you enter a display name in the Profile screen so the app can greet you by name, that name is stored locally. You can change or remove it at any time. We do not require you to enter a name, an email address, a phone number, or any other identifier to use Walk In Hope. The fourth category is group membership. If you create or join a walking group, the group code and the names of members are stored locally on each member’s device. In the current version of the app, groups operate as device-local lists; group data is not synchronized through any server we control. The fifth category is notification preferences. If you enable daily reminders, the app schedules those reminders using the standard Android or iOS notification system. The app stores only your preference (on or off, and reminder time) — the operating system handles the actual delivery, and we have no visibility into when or whether a reminder fired.
Information We Do Not Collect: To make this section unambiguous: Walk In Hope does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following. We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, postal address, government identifier, or date of birth. We do not collect your precise location, your IP address, your device advertising identifier, or your contacts list. We do not collect health data beyond the step count described above. We do not collect financial information of any kind because the app is free and contains no purchases. We do not collect chat messages, photos, voice recordings, or any user-generated content because the app does not yet include those features. We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, social-login providers, or third-party crash-reporting services in this version. If a future version of Walk In Hope adds features that require collecting or transmitting any of the data described above (for example, a cloud-synced groups feature, or an account system to back up your progress), we will update this policy first, label the new behavior clearly inside the app, and ask for your consent before any new data leaves your device.
Permissions the App Requests: To deliver step tracking and reminders, Walk In Hope requests two sensitive permissions on your device. You can decline either or both, and the app will continue to work — though the corresponding feature will be unavailable. The first permission is physical activity / activity recognition. This is the permission that lets the app read the step count from your phone’s pedometer. Without it, the step ring will not advance. The second permission is post notifications. This is the permission that lets Walk In Hope send the optional daily reminder you can enable in the Profile tab. Without it, the toggle will be visible but reminders will not appear. Walk In Hope does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photo library, calendar, SMS, call log, or any other sensitive permission.
Children’s Privacy: Walk In Hope is intended for adults. The app’s content — a 60-day spiritual devotional and walking habit — is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the relevant threshold). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, you can simply uninstall it; because no data leaves the device, no further action is needed to remove personal information from our systems (we have no systems holding such information).
Data Retention: Because Walk In Hope stores information only on your device, the app’s data lives as long as the app is installed. If you want to clear all stored data without uninstalling, open your phone’s Settings, find Walk In Hope in the app list, and choose Clear storage (Android) or uninstall and reinstall the app (iOS). When you uninstall the app, your device removes all stored data automatically.
Your Rights: You have the right to know what information Walk In Hope processes about you (this policy is the answer), the right to access it (every piece of stored information is visible inside the app — there is no hidden ledger), the right to correct it (every field you entered, including your display name and step goal, is editable in Profile), and the right to delete it (clear app storage or uninstall the app at any time). Because we do not hold any of your data on servers, there is no separate request process for access, correction, or deletion — you have full control on your own device.
Security: We rely on the security of your device’s operating system to protect locally stored data. Android and iOS both isolate each app’s storage from other apps. We recommend keeping your phone’s operating system up to date, using a screen lock, and avoiding installing apps from sources you do not trust. Because Walk In Hope does not transmit personal data, there is no transmission to be intercepted.
International Use: Walk In Hope is available worldwide through the Google Play Store. Because the app processes information only on the user’s device and does not transmit personal data, no international data transfer occurs.
Changes to This Policy: If we change how Walk In Hope handles information — for example, when adding a feature that requires server-side processing — we will update this policy and revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will also be announced inside the app before the new behavior takes effect.
